🏨 Gulin Taiping Ancient Town
📍Detailed address: Taiping Town, Gulin County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province
Admission: Free
🌟Highlights:
The ancient town is a memorial site of the Red Army's Long March and the crossing of the Chishui River, specifically the second and fourth crossings. There are no kebabs, no milk tea, no hustle and bustle, just the old and mottled streets that have witnessed that unforgettable history.
The existing buildings are mostly houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties, featuring ancient architectural frameworks such as dry railings and stilted buildings, presenting characteristics of 'platforms, hangings, misalignments, projections, shuttles, and leans.' As time goes by, there are not many people living in the ancient town anymore!
❤Recommended reason:
The whole town is scattered with red relics and revolutionary cultural relics. The quiet streets are not overly commercialized. Most of the buildings inside are houses from the Ming and Qing periods.
The memorial hall tells the story of February 1916, when the soldiers of the National Protection War, under the command of the residing general, fought fiercely against the powerful Beiyang Army for more than 20 days, firmly defending the line at Cotton Slope. With a ten-to-one ratio, it is one of the few examples in the National Protection War where a smaller force won over a larger one.
