The first prologue of spring is early spring. A Tang Dynasty poem says: When spring comes, the grass and trees will grow, the spring mountains will be visible, the light sailboats will emerge from the water, and the white gulls will spread their wings. Spring brings with it the migration of birds.
In early March, a large number of migratory birds such as swans, wild geese, and ruddy pochards flew to the lake wetlands in the Shandian River Basin. They settled down and roosted on the lake surface where the ice had not yet melted. The beautiful ecological scenery of flocks of geese soaring and swans dancing added vitality to the Guyuan Wetland.
From March to April, the weather in Guyuan, Zhangjiakou, Hebei begins to gradually warm up, and various migratory birds arrive one after another to stop, rest, and transfer. Grey cranes, wild geese, and little swans are the "main force" of migration. Flocks of migratory birds soar over the wetlands, roam on the shallows, or live among the grass and trees. The gathering of thousands of birds and the spectacular scene have become a unique landscape in spring. By the end of April, the lake will gradually unclog and migratory birds will continue their migration north.
