These days, when you think of Gyeongju, this is the place, right?
Wow, but this was seriously the hardest part. 😱
It seems like everyone in the world is here!!!
Looking at the map, there are countless public and private parking lots nearby, so why isn't there one for us?~~~After wandering around for an hour, I parked on a rice paddy 1.5km away and walked all day. I've walked 26,000 steps.🥹🥹🥹I've never walked this much even on a trip abroad.
Still, it was so much fun! There are so many things to see and do! There's a reason everyone flocks here. ❤️❤️❤️
When I was young, the Daereungwon area wasn't as well-maintained as it was, making sightseeing difficult. But now, it's so beautifully maintained and immaculately maintained that it rivals any other historic site in the world. Hwangridan-gil is also lined with countless shops, each boasting its own unique charm. It was hard to choose where to go. The tireless efforts of many people have truly made Gyeongju a world-class tourist destination!
Daereungwon is also a World Cultural Heritage site! It's no wonder I've never seen such a large cluster of royal tombs in the middle of a city like this anywhere else in the world. And the sight is truly breathtaking! Thanks to the unique stone mound wooden chamber tomb style of Silla, it's been preserved in its original form for over 1,000 years, protected from looting. It's truly a living history lesson, allowing us to see countless historical sites all at once, including Hwangnamdaechong and Cheonmachong, which we learned about in our history classes, as well as Cheomseongdae and Houchong, all within walking distance! My child is too young now, but when Ollie gets a little older, I'll definitely come back and tell him stories.
It's been a while since I've been to Gyeongju. It was such a meaningful and enjoyable trip!
I hope this beautiful scenery is maintained until I visit again~😍😍😍
📌 Daereungwon Opening Hours
Main Gate: 9:00-22:00
Back Gate: 9:00-21:30 (Same for Cheonmachong Tomb)
📌Adults: 3,000 won
Youth: 2,000 won
Children: 1,000 won
📌Even if everything inside is empty, the Hwangnamdaechong photo zone
can be quite long.
📌You can reserve a free guided tour of Cheonmachong on the Gyeongju City Hall website.
The high-quality 30-minute guide is a must-listen!
📌Parking is a mess not only in the surrounding parking lots due to Hwangridan-gil,
but even on the roads.
If possible, go early in the morning! 📌 You can rent electric cars here and there, but I don't recommend it... It's a bit awkward to drive on the road or sidewalk, and you don't get insurance. You can't enter the historic site anyway. ㅠㅠ Hwangridan-gil is also scary because of the people!!!
It's probably better to reserve a silkworm car online before your visit.
Cheomseongdae is free to visit~
