Located in Gyo-dong, Gyeongju-si, this bridge was originally built during the Unified Silla period. It is just a short walk from Gyochon Village in Gyeongju. Although the bridge was lost during the Joseon Dynasty, it was restored in April 2018 as the largest wooden bridge in South Korea.
The bridge connects Gyeongju Wolseong, the royal palace of Silla, and Gyeongju Namsan, a UNESCO World Heritage site. On the second floor of the gatehouse, there is a digital exhibition hall showcasing artifacts unearthed during the restoration and the history of the bridge. However, the second floor was quite hot, and there was no one there.
From sunset until 10 PM, the entire bridge is illuminated, creating a stunning and fantastical sight as the vividly colored bridge stands out against the pitch-black night sky. It was truly beautiful and enchanting.
