If you’re visiting Hanoi and looking for a quick escape from the city heat, a one-day cruise to Halong Bay is an absolute must — and summer is the perfect time to go!
I recently booked the Halong Symphony Cruise for a day trip, and it was one of the highlights of my Vietnam journey. For just $186 for two pax, it was truly value for money — the price included hotel pickup and drop-off, a welcome glass of champagne, free-flow buffet, and a full-day itinerary packed with scenic views and fun activities.
🚐 Pickup was right at our hotel in Hanoi at 7:30 AM, and the ride to Halong Bay was comfortable and well-organized. We arrived at the marina just in time to board and were welcomed with a glass of champagne as we set sail into the UNESCO-listed bay.
Here’s what our itinerary included:
• 🏞️ Sung Sot Cave – Absolutely stunning! The size and natural formations were mind-blowing.
• ⛰️ Ti Top Island – We hiked up for panoramic views and relaxed on the beach.
• 🛶 Kayaking – This was one of my favorite parts! Paddling through the calm waters surrounded by limestone cliffs was surreal.
• 🕳️ Luon Cave – A peaceful boat ride through this tunnel cave gave us a close-up of Halong’s hidden beauty.
• 🍰 Afternoon tea on deck – A relaxing way to end the day, sipping tea with a sea breeze and limestone islets all around.
🕢 We got back to our hotel in Hanoi around 7:30 PM, just in time to grab a late dinner.
My honest opinion? Spending 2 or 3 days in Halong Bay might feel repetitive, especially if you’re more into variety and city life. But a one-day trip is just right — it gives you a taste of Halong’s magic without overstaying. The bay is iconic for a reason, and it’s especially breathtaking in summer.
🌊 Halong Symphony Cruise really delivered — great service, friendly staff, and a smooth, well-paced itinerary. If you’re planning your Hanoi itinerary, definitely consider adding this perfect day trip to your summer bucket list!
