Shangsu Village, located at the foot of a mountain southeast of Songjiazhuang Town, Wei County, Hebei Province, boasts over 600 households. It is the oldest and largest village within Songjiazhuang Town, renowned for its simple folk customs and unique local culture. Established over 450 years ago, the fortress walls, gates, and buildings are largely well-preserved. From above, the fortress's shape resembles a gong (a wooden frame divided into squares, each containing a small gong). The streets crisscrossing east, west, south, and north resemble the gong's framework, and the square courtyards resemble gongs suspended from it.
Shangsuzhuang Village is renowned in Wei County for its diverse temple complex and numerous performing artists. While the temple culture of the past was a product of pantheism, it also bears witness to the flourishing of local culture and epitomizes the local customs and folkways.
