✓ Kabushima Shrine
Located in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, Kabushima Shrine is a famous shrine dedicated to seagulls. It sits atop Kabushima Island at the northernmost tip of Tanesashi Coast and boasts a rich history and cultural significance. The shrine enshrines Benzaiten, the goddess of fortune and protector of business prosperity and fishing safety, and has been deeply revered by locals for generations.
In addition to being a place of worship for fishermen, Kabushima Shrine is also a natural breeding ground for black-tailed gulls, a nationally protected species. The sight of countless gulls soaring in the sky is truly spectacular, but visitors are advised to carry an umbrella to avoid unexpected "attacks" from bird droppings.
Transportation: From JR Hachinohe Line Same Station, it's a 15-minute walk, or you can take the Tanesashi Coast Sightseeing Bus "Black-tailed Gull" and get off at the "Kabushima Seaside Park" stop.
