Hokkaido 🇯🇵 Red Brick Warehouse

Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse is a popular spot in the Bay Area. The red brick warehouse facing the harbor exudes an exotic atmosphere and is one of Hakodate's most representative attractions.

The Red Brick Warehouse opened in 1887 as Hakodate's first commercial warehouse. It was once destroyed by a fire but was later rebuilt into its current appearance. Later, while retaining the original appearance of the warehouse, it was converted into a shopping and dining complex. The historic retro buildings are divided into four main facilities: BAY Hakodate, Kanemori Yokomonkan, Hakodate History Plaza, and Kanemori Kaikan, with about 50 stores. These shops offer a wide variety of Hakodate specialties and limited edition goods, including candies, glass, and music boxes, making them the perfect place to pick up souvenirs.
