As someone who has always traveled around Osaka and Tokyo,
I visited Hakone, a small city, for the first time! In fact, it is a small city, but it is much bigger than Seoul or the Gyeonggi area, so I can't really call it a small city! Rather than the hustle and bustle of the city, I called it that because the tranquility of the forest is more apparent!
The accommodation was actually called 'Hakone Yumoto' station, so there were many ryokans near the main city of Hakone, but since I like the forest view, I chose a place located at the top of the mountain!
(I was able to easily find my way there using the Google Maps app)
I was surprised that there was a ryokan here? It was so nice to be in a place that I thought was a little bit strange, but as soon as I entered, I could feel the unique Japanese ryokan culture and it was so nice! The staff also prepared our shoes separately as soon as we entered, gave us slippers that we could wear communally in the ryokan restaurant or in the room, and guided us to the room!
After filling out the check-in form with a welcome drink and looking around the room, I was so happy to see the hot spring bathtub with a view of the whole view on the veranda!
There were amenities in the bathroom, yukatas and other disposable items in the closet, and even an extra blanket in the large closet in the middle, so I felt that they had prepared everything in detail! After unpacking, washing my body, and going straight to the hot spring, I don't know if it's real sulfur, but it's really warm and my body feels soft afterward, it was really great!
(I tried to go to the large bathhouse where men and women are separated, but I couldn't make a reservation in advance, so I didn't go because I wanted to enjoy the hot spring in my room more! If you want to go, you should definitely go there.)
The best part of a ryokan is dinner! Kaiseki!
I went straight to the hot spring, put on a yukata, and went to have dinner! It was prepared as a course, and it started with egg omelet, sashimi, white rice, stews, meat, etc. The food was really great. I thought the meat was steak, but it was sous vide meat, so it really melted as soon as I ate it..ㅠㅠThe best
I ordered beer right away. I couldn't miss out on alcohol, so I drank a glass right away!
It was a 2-day, 1-night trip, so it was a shame, but it was great in many ways, and there were 2 heaters installed, so I stayed warmer than at home!!
If you are bored with the city tours in Japan, I highly recommend visiting Hakone, the city of hot springs ♥️
