Lake Ashi (芦ノ湖) – the twin lakes of Mount Fuji

#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck

Lake Ashi, or Ashinoko, was formed by the eruption of Mount Hakone over 3,000 years ago. Located in the heart of Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, Lake Ashi is renowned for its stunning views of Mount Fuji reflected on the water's surface and its romantic atmosphere. It's perfect for both sightseeing cruises and relaxing on the shore.

🚤 Highlights of Lake Ashi

Pirate Ships (Hakone Sightseeing Cruise) ⛵ Pirate ships are the symbol of Lake Ashi tourism. There are three main cruises operating between Togendai, Moto-Hakone, and Hakone-machi. The journey takes approximately 25–30 minutes.
• Royal II (Royale II): Red and gold, with a classic, luxurious style.
• Victory (Victory): Blue and gold. Antique British Ship Design
• Queen Ashinoko (クイーン芦ノ湖): This newest gold-and-black ship debuted in 2019 and boasts a stunning modern design.

Each ship features an open-air deck offering 360° panoramic views and VIP seating options.

Hakone Shrine ⛩️
A famous lakeside shrine, the Heiwa no Torii (red torii gate) in the water is a popular photo opportunity, especially during sunrise and sunset.

View of Mount Fuji 🗻
On a clear day, you'll see Fuji-san towering over the lake, a breathtaking sight that will make you stop and gaze.

🍴 Stop for some tonkatsu at the famous lakeside restaurant "Ueno" after disembarking. A must-try is a stop at Ueno (うえ乃), a local restaurant with an authentic Japanese atmosphere located on the lake. Their recommended dish is the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) paired with the warm soup. It's absolutely delicious! 🍚✨ In addition to tonkatsu, the restaurant also offers soba, udon, and other Japanese set meals. If you're visiting Lake Ashi, we highly recommend trying it.
