Top Chinese merchant’s Residence

Hu Xueyan’s Former Residence is a beautiful place to visit for its stunning Chinese architecture and garden composed of zigzag bridges, luxurious mansions and elegant pavilions. The karst cave in the garden is deemed as the largest manmade in China. Lush green plants, beautiful flowers and fish in the pools make the garden such a charming place!

Hu Xueyan was a successful merchant during the Qing Dynasty. Big brain and hardworking, his business was expanded in various fields such as silk,medicine and real estate. He also had a high position in Hangzhou’s civil and financial administration. HuqingYutang, his traditional Chinese medicine shop is still operating nowadays in Hefang Street, not too far from the his Former Residence.

How to go - I got off at Ding’an Road (定安路地铁站）line 1 metro 🚇 station and walked to the entrance for about 15 mins. If you don’t want to walk, you can easily grab a Hello Bike near the station and cycle to the entrance. Check the way on your maps. I use Gaode Ditu (胡雪岩旧居)
