Silk Memories of Jiangnan: China National Silk Museum, Hangzhou

Silk is one of China's representative cultural heritages. In the Jiangnan area, silk weaving skills have a long history. The China Silk Museum in Hangzhou is a special cultural and museum venue that tells about silk and Jiangnan silk weaving skills.
The China Silk Museum, located at No. 73-1, Yuhuangshan Road, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is a national silk museum and the largest silk museum in the world.

The China National Silk Museum displays China's 5,000-year history and culture of silk. Its basic exhibits include five parts: the introductory hall, the historical relics hall, the silk hall, the dyeing and weaving hall, and the modern achievements hall.
The China National Silk Museum has many important collections, including the Warring States Period brocade with dragon and wind patterns, the Han and Jin Dynasty Changbao descendants brocade, the Northern Dynasties twisted silk dress, the Tang Dynasty brocade sleeves floral pattern silk robe, the Tang Dynasty flower and bird embroidered jacquard silk, the Liao Dynasty gold-plated embroidered round nest grass and pair of geese silk, the Song Dynasty flowered silk skirt and pants, the Yuan Dynasty gold-printed silk short-sleeved shirt, the Qing Dynasty black satin women's jacket with colorful embroidered flowers, and so on.
The China National Silk Museum houses historical relics related to silk from various dynasties since the Neolithic Age, especially Han and Tang fabrics unearthed along the Silk Road, Liao and Jin artifacts from the northern grasslands, Song Dynasty costumes from the Jiangnan region, official products from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and modern cheongsams and image-scene fabrics.
