Discovered a hidden gem hotel in Hangzhou! So comfortable

In-depth Experience at InterContinental Hangzhou Convention & Exhibition Center & Transition Stay at InterContinental Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center

InterContinental Hangzhou Convention & Exhibition Center: A Unique Riverside Experience

"Golden Sphere Reflects Qiantang's Charm, River Views Inspire Endless Serenity." As a landmark in Hangzhou, the InterContinental Hangzhou Convention & Exhibition Center attracts countless gazes with its iconic "Golden Sphere" design. During this weekend stay, though my first experience only upgraded from DA+ level to a River View Executive Room, it still offered many unique impressions. Overall, it's more suitable for business travelers.

🏙️ Location: The hotel enjoys a prime downtown location by the Qiantang River, with river-view rooms being absolutely stunning. Drawing the curtains reveals expansive river views, creating an immersive atmosphere. The hotel is right above a subway station, surrounded by commercial centers and the City Balcony, with evening music fountain shows adding to the convenience and entertainment—earning full marks for location.

🧹 Soundproofing/Cleanliness: Soundproofing could be improved, and there's room for enhancement in cleanliness. Upon arrival, I noticed water stains inside the electric kettle, and the bedding felt slightly damp, indicating a need for better attention to detail in cleaning.

🛌 Amenities/Facilities: The toiletries are Byredo, a standard for InterContinental, maintaining good quality. However, hardware maintenance is average. The hairdryer isn't high-speed, and the room's entrance door requires manual assistance to open and close smoothly. Given the room rate of around ¥1,000, the hardware offers middling value for money.

🍴 Dining Experience: The executive lounge excels, with afternoon tea sets adjusted flexibly based on guest numbers and a commendable variety of fruits. Happy Hour features five main hot dishes alongside fried snacks and pizza, offering a hearty spread. In contrast, the breakfast at the all-day dining restaurant is rather mundane, lacking standout specialties. The welcome drink at the lobby bar stands out, with coffee quality far surpassing that served during breakfast, leaving a lasting impression.

💗 Other Tips: The service team demonstrates the professionalism expected of a five-star hotel, with breakfast and lounge staff being particularly warm and attentive. Evening turndown service adds a thoughtful touch. For those prioritizing river views and convenient transportation, and who aren't overly concerned about hardware wear, this is a solid choice for business travel.

InterContinental Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center: A Comfortable Airport Stopover

Arriving at Shenzhen Airport for a business trip in Dongguan, I opted for a brief overnight stay at the InterContinental Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center, leveraging my IHG Diamond Elite status for a seamless experience.

🏘️ Room Type/Layout: As a Diamond member, I was upgraded to a Deluxe City View King Room. Though the "city view" concept was slightly puzzling, the thoughtful welcome fruits and desserts instantly boosted my stay's enjoyment.

🛌 Amenities/Facilities: The room includes a bathtub, and the pool operates from 07:00 to 22:00, catering to leisure needs. However, the city view outside the window is rather ordinary, with occasional planes passing by, adding a dynamic touch to the scenery.

🍴 Dining Experience: The executive lounge serves sandwiches and desserts for afternoon tea, while Happy Hour offers over three hot meat dishes, providing ample dining options. Breakfast features diverse stations, including a Diamond-exclusive area, with local specialties like seafood congee and fried shrimp cakes offering regional flavors.

💗 Other Tips: For a short stay near Shenzhen Airport, member benefits ensure a pleasant experience. The executive lounge's dining service and the room's basic facilities are more than adequate for transitional needs.
