Taking the kids to West Lake, we experienced its serene side for the first time.
We stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, which felt like a tranquil oasis amidst the summer hustle. On a rainy day, the misty lakeside embodied the poetic charm of Jiangnan. We enjoyed a photoshoot throughout the hotel—every shot was a keeper—and even received a sweet gift for our little one🎁.
The Four Seasons is like a miniature West Lake, with classic Jiangnan gardens featuring pavilions, bridges, and flowing water—every step a picturesque scene of understated Chinese luxury. Our 70+ sqm garden-view room welcomed us with treats, a handwritten note, and adorable themed snacks and bath amenities for our child, who was thrilled. The floor-to-ceiling windows and traditional sliding doors brought the garden's beauty right inside.
Afternoon tea was a work of art, with the tray designed to mirror West Lake’s scenery—complete with Broken Bridge motifs and lotus accents—making each bite feel special. For dinner, we opted for Western cuisine (thanks to our kid’s pasta craving), and the premium ingredients impressed us all. Next time, we’ll try their Chinese fare, sure to delight my local palate.
The highlight? A private, air-conditioned boat tour arranged by the hotel—just for our family—complete with snacks and a guide narrating the iconic sights. Compared to the usual crowds, this was an unforgettable way to experience West Lake!
