18:00 Return to Shanghai
🟠Transportation
You can travel from Shanghai to Hangzhou by high-speed rail or taxi.
While the high-speed rail is significantly cheaper, the travel time is the same as a taxi, at just over two hours.
Since I would still need to take a taxi after arriving in Hangzhou, I rented a taxi from Shanghai for the day.
Taxis from Shanghai to Hangzhou can be booked through Ctrip.
A six-seater taxi cost NT$1,800 for the day.
The only rules were that the trip must be within 10 hours and that it had to be to and from Shanghai.
I communicated with the driver via WeChat about departure times and places I wanted to go.
The taxi picked me up at home and took me back, which was super convenient. 🚖
It's expensive, but I recommend it if you're looking for comfort.
🟠Where I went
We left Shanghai at 9am and returned at 6pm.
It was so hot in Hangzhou that I wanted to see more, but I cut it short.
◆Lunch at Qingchun Pumen
This restaurant is right in front of Lingyin Temple.
A Michelin-starred restaurant and a hugely popular must-eat spot.
I made a reservation because it was a holiday.
Perhaps because we had a reservation or because we were traveling with children, they seated us in a private room on the second floor.
The seats on the first floor were packed, making for an uncomfortable atmosphere.
If possible, I recommend dining in a private room on the second floor, as you can relax and the atmosphere is nicer.
We ordered some of the dishes ranked highly by the public, and everything was absolutely delicious.
As it's a vegetarian restaurant, they don't serve meat or fish, but the food was delicious and truly satisfying.
The seasonings were also unique, as you'd expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant!
◆Lingyin Temple (Walk around and see Feilai Peak)
When you think of Hangzhou, you think of Lingyin Temple and West Lake!
First, we went to Lingyin Temple.
We enjoyed seeing Feilai Peak and strolling around the temple.
Apparently, you can climb the stairs to the top of Feilai Peak, but it was too hot, so we gave up.
After that, we planned to go to Longjing Village, a famous tea-producing area in Hangzhou, to see the tea fields and learn about the history of tea.
However, Hangzhou was even hotter than Shanghai...! Sadly, I gave up.
◆Climbing Leifeng Pagoda to View West Lake
West Lake is a must-see tourist spot in Hangzhou.
It's also registered as a World Heritage Site.
There are several spots to enjoy West Lake,
but this time I decided to climb Leifeng Pagoda to view it.
Though Leifeng Pagoda itself isn't particularly noteworthy,
I was captivated by the beauty of West Lake from above.
◆Viewing West Lake from Liulang Wen Ying
I had planned to view West Lake from Liulang Wen Ying,
but it was too hot, so I gave up.
I left Hangzhou around 3:30 PM and returned to Shanghai around 6 PM.
