The most famous landmark in Istanbul, Turkey: Hagia Sophia

Hagia Sophia, which combines Islamic and Catholic styles, is of great historical significance. It was once the largest cathedral in the world. Women from all over the world must cover their hair when entering a church, following local customs and showing respect. There are many vendors selling scarves around (you can prepare your own, if you don't have them, they are sold nearby). You are not allowed to wear shoes inside the church, there are shoe cabinets to store your shoes or you have to carry your shoes when you go out. The roof, mosaics, and stained glass in the church are magnificent and beautiful. They are so beautiful no matter how you take pictures✨️

The church is now used as a museum. After the museum was converted into a mosque (it was converted to a mosque in July 2020), the second floor is no longer accessible for visits, which is a pity. There is a constant stream of tourists. If you want to avoid the crowds, it is recommended to go in the morning or evening. After the afternoon, you need to wait in line for at least 30 minutes before entering. The magnificent decoration inside the church fully demonstrates the conflict and integration of the two religious cultures, Ottoman and Byzantine.
