It boasts eight naturally formed scenic areas, including Baoshi Village, Eight Immortals Rock, East (West) Well, Baoshi Wonderland, Utopia, Fantasy West Paradise, Phoenix Ridge, and Swan Lake, encompassing over 120 scenic spots. The area also boasts numerous well-preserved historical and cultural attractions, including the remains of Wen Tianxiang's government and garrison during his anti-Yuan campaign, the remains of Hai Rui's overnight stay at an inn, the headquarters of Deng Xiaoping's Seventh Red Army, and the remains of World War II fortifications.
Legend has it that the name Baoshi Mountain was personally given by Wen Tianxiang, the top scholar and prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty. In the second year of the Jingyan reign of the Southern Song Dynasty (1277 AD), Wen Tianxiang was escorting the Empress Dowager through Xingguo when they were besieged by Yuan troops. He then climbed the mountain and built a stronghold to defend it. Because the Empress Dowager was holding the imperial seal, she scaled several peaks, each one shaking to the point of being unable to gain a foothold. It was only when she reached the treacherous peak of Xianren Peak, known as "Immortal Peak," where "one man can hold a fort against ten thousand," that she finally found peace. Wen Tianxiang exclaimed, "This is truly Baoshi Mountain!" Thus, the mountain's name remains to this day.
Distinctive and interconnected, they resemble a natural "Stone Forest" created by the hand of God. The shimmering, mirror-like Swan Lake is a paradise of lush bamboo forests, chirping birds, and fragrant flowers. The mist-shrouded Tongling Temple and Songyin Temple, shrouded in incense and shrouded in mist, entice visitors to linger. Natural landscapes such as Shengseng Peak, the Divine Turtle Flying to the Moon, the Twin Lions Playing with a Ball, the Camel Hump, the Echo Wall, and the Eight Immortals Slaying the Dragon Valley are all vividly portrayed. Fascinating legends about the Black Bamboo Forest, the Reverse Phragmites australis, and the Skylight Frame continue to linger. The cascading Baizhang Waterfall, a thousand-foot waterfall, is a unique landscape embedded in a jewel wonderland. As the Ming Dynasty explorer Xu Xiake described it: "The moonlight shines on the Danxia like a jewel, clouds circling the sacred rocks like a flying dragon spewing mist, the valley feels like a dreamland, and the sound penetrating the cliffs resembles the tolling of bells."
The subtropical monsoon humid climate; the Gem Wonderland Scenic Area is a unique tourist scenic area that integrates Danxia landforms, historical sites, cultural landscapes and mountain and water scenery, and is suitable for travel in all seasons.
