#chinatravel The iconic Saint Sophia Cathedral (also known as The Cathedral of the Holy Wisdom of God) is a former Russian Orthodox church located in Daoli district, Harbin.
Address : No.88, Toulong Street, Daoli District, Harbin City (哈尔滨市道里区透笼街88号)
Entrance Fee to Museum : 15 Chinese Yuan
Operating Hours : 0830 - 1700 hrs daily
Built in 1907, Saint Sophia Cathedral is the largest Eastern Orthodox church in the Far East.
The former church no longer provides any mass services. Instead it now houses the Harbin Architecture Art Gallery.
From Central Street (Zhongyang Pedestrian Walking Street), it's actually quite easy to walk over by using Google Maps.
Visit during the day for a clear full shot of the church's amazing architecture which is a dark reddish colour from the side, unique onion shaped church roof top and the surrounding Sophia Square as well. There is also a pigeon feeding area where you can pay to feed the pigeons.
For Cosplay enthusiasts, there are costume rental shops around the corner in addition to professional photographers whom you can engage to take photographs for you, though they can be a tart bit annoying lol.
