When we arrived at Guposhan, we saw the sign saying that the negative oxygen ion content reached more than 110,000 per cubic centimeter. At first we thought we had read it wrong, but later we checked the information and found out that the negative oxygen ion content here is as high as 160,000 per cubic centimeter. Therefore, the Guposhan Scenic Area is known as the largest natural forest oxygen bar in South China.
There are 25 peaks with an altitude of more than 1,000 meters in the scenic area. The highest peak is 1,844 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in Guidong. There are gullies everywhere and streams flowing all year round. Due to the special terrain structure, there are many cliffs in the area, forming a unique scene where every gully is filled with waterfalls and every waterfall is amazing. Among them, the colorful Wayao Chong Benma Waterfall, Xiangu Waterfall, Luohan Waterfall and Yinhe Luojiutian Waterfall are particularly famous. As for the origin of the name of Guposhan, it is also related to local myths and legends. The local Hakka people call older unmarried women "Gupo", so there is also a rather clichéd love myth and legend here.
The wild mushrooms on Guposhan are very delicious. I bought two kilograms and carried them in a red plastic bag. I came to a scenic spot with wild monkeys. The monkeys were waiting in groups on the roadside and in the trees. They were not afraid of people at all and would directly come up to snatch the tourists' bags. The red bag in my hand made me an even more likely target of attack. I was so scared that I ran away when I saw the monkeys from afar. Later, the trip to Shibashui left me with a psychological trauma and I no longer dared to go up the mountain alone.
