Asahidake (2291m above sea level), the highest peak in Hokkaido, in the Daisetsu Mountain Range
Asahidake is famous for being the spot where you can see the earliest autumn leaves in Japan
You can take the ropeway all the way up to Sugatami-no-ike Station, which is at an altitude of 1600m
The circular course is a course that anyone can easily try
However, you will need serious mountain climbing equipment as there is a continuous scree slope all the way to the summit of Asahidake
The red of the autumn leaves in the Daisetsu Mountain Range is better than that of rowan or maple, the red of the Acanthus chinensis!
When I visited, the summit of Asahidake was so foggy that I couldn't see even 1m ahead, but as soon as I started to descend, the fog cleared (←a common thing when climbing)
When I reached the top of the mountain, I was treated to this refreshing and magnificent view!

This is 'Mt. Asahidake', which is the highest mountain in Hokkaido, Japan with 2291m above sea level and an active volcano in the Daisetsu-zan mountainous National Park. Asahi-dake is said that it's the earliest to turn the autumn leaves in Jaran. The brilliant red colored plant is 'Chinguruma', means 'Aleutian avens' officially in English. Luckily it was getting clear to blue sky after heavily foggy when I got up to the summit of Mt. Asahidake.
