This is our personal review from our day of strolling, taking photos, eating, and boating in Hoi An. 😊
⸻
Walking into Hoi An's Old Town, the first thing that caught my eye were the colorful lanterns everywhere, along the streets, along the riverfront, and in the shops. There were so many photo opportunities! The lanterns were everywhere, and the evening light as they started to glow was absolutely stunning.
We tried several local dishes, such as Cao Lau, chewy noodles in a light broth, fresh vegetables, and a little crispy pork; Banh Mi, a crispy Vietnamese sandwich stuffed with a filling; and the White Rose Dumplings, which were incredibly flavorful. But every dish captured the charm of the old town, embodied in the flavors and aromas of spices and herbs.
The highlight was a boat trip on the Hoi An River as the sun was setting. At night, the small boats gently floated, releasing lanterns on the water's surface. It felt like a dream, a quiet spot, with the lights reflecting off the water, the sounds of boats, and the people walking along the shore. And the cool weather is so chill.
⸻
If I had to sum it up in my own style:
• 📸 You must allow plenty of time to walk around and take photos with the lanterns.
• 🍴 Hoi An's local food is delicious and unique. Don't miss trying Cao Lau / Banh Mi / White Rose / street food.
• ⛵ Evening cruise + lantern release is a very romantic experience. If you have time, make sure it's just after dark.
