Raise your own fish: Hong Kong organic fish belongs to Hong Kong people

This year's "Local Organic Aquaculture Festival 2021" is themed "Local Organic", aiming to let the public know about the development of local sustainable organic fisheries and understand the nutritional value of organic aquaculture. In fact, organic fishery is one of the important organic industries in Hong Kong. As sustainable development becomes a global trend, citizens have been yearning for a green and environmentally friendly lifestyle in recent years, and the demand for organic and healthy ingredients has increased, bringing opportunities to the local organic industry. Low-carbon diet is an important part of practicing low-carbon life. In addition to purchasing more local organic agricultural products, local organic aquatic products are also worthy of everyone's support.

Many Hong Kong people know that Hong Kong’s food mainly relies on imports, but they are not aware that Hong Kong actually has its own organic fish farmed. There are currently 16 organic fish farms in Hong Kong, and the local organic fish production is more than 20,000 per year. Organic fish farming must use organic certified fish feed, and there are also strict requirements for the fish pond environment and water quality. This makes local organic fish of high quality and safe to eat, delicious and rich in nutritional value. Buying more organic seafood is not only healthy and nutritious, but also promotes a low-carbon lifestyle. It also helps promote the development of local organic fisheries, which in turn drives supporting industries related to fisheries, such as product wholesale, retail, and transportation, and has a positive impact on the overall economic development of Hong Kong.
