Former Sham Shui Po Bishop Hill Reservoir: An Underground Roman Secret in the City

Visiting the former Sham Shui Po Bishop Hill Reservoir feels like traveling back in time to ancient Rome 😆 Built in 1904, this underground reservoir features Roman-style red brick arches and granite columns. The historic architecture is incredibly soothing, like stepping into an ancient Roman palace! 🌟

✅ Stunning Roman Architecture
As soon as you enter the reservoir, the granite columns and red brick arches catch your eye, creating an atmospheric scene under the lighting! 😭 On the day I visited, I didn’t join a guided tour, but there are various display boards introducing the reservoir’s history, along with QR codes for visitors to scan and listen to audio guides—very thoughtful 👍🏻 Combined with the on-site lighting, the lines of the red brick vaulted ceiling and stone columns form a perfect composition, ideal for photos! 📸

❗️Note: The path uphill consists entirely of stairs

A great city outing spot for the Dragon Boat Festival 😆 Highly recommended 👍🏻
