Bishop Hill Water Service Reservoir: Exploring Hong Kong's Ancient Architecture

#Ancient Architecture

The Bishop Hill Reservoir was rediscovered in 2020. This ancient building, which combines traditional European-style granite columns and imitation Roman red brick arches, immediately attracted the attention of Hong Kong people and was considered a cultural relic worthy of conservation. The government designated it as a Grade 1 historic building in 2021 and changed the way it organizes guided tours to allow people to learn about Hong Kong’s century-long water supply history.

It is hard to imagine that there are such beautiful Roman red brick arches underground. It is well worth a visit.
