Stanley Rhino Rock Hiking Route

This time, I want to introduce Rhino Rock located in Stanley. It is one of the famous unique rocks in Hong Kong’s hiking scene. Although the entire route is less than two kilometers, it involves a lot of ups and downs, with many sections covered in loose sand and gravel. Some parts require using both hands and feet, and the sun exposure is extremely high. It is considered an intermediate-level trail, so it’s definitely not a route for beginners to challenge casually 😎

Getting to Rhino Rock is simple. You can take bus number 14 from Kornhill in Sai Wan Ho to the gate of Stanley Fort and get off there. Then start from the steps beside the Stanley Military Camp gate. The initial section is through jungle but there is a clear mountain path that leads all the way up. When you reach the elevation marker at Slope Cannon Top, the area becomes more open. Then, on the right side, there is a relatively hidden small path to proceed. After descending a short distance, turn right again, then follow the ribbon markers heading south. Next, turn left and go downhill on a loose sand and gravel path, with some minor climbing. After that, you will arrive at the popular photo spot at Rhino Rock 🦏 From Rhino Rock, you can enjoy unbeatable panoramic sea views of Stanley and Tai Tam Bay. After taking photos, you can return along the same route 😉

Friendly reminder: Since there are many exposed sunny spots along the way, friends interested in visiting this photo spot should remember to take full sun protection measures, bring proper hiking gear, and carry enough drinks 😎
