【Hong Kong】 Former Central Police Station site, experience a Spanish prison feast!

When visiting a prison, you definitely have to try the prison meal! At the former Victoria Prison in Central’s Tai Kwun, there is a Spanish restaurant called 1862 Bar de Tapas, located inside the old F Ward area.

The exterior of the restaurant retains the original prison cell design, while inside it is a classic steakhouse. Compared to other restaurants, it is quieter, allowing you to peacefully enjoy different delicacies.

The lunch menu offers Spanish or regular Western dishes. I had the simplest steak set, a three-course meal for 138 HKD plus service charge, which included pumpkin soup, steak with toasted bread and fries, and chocolate sauce with fried bread sticks. The steak was medium-rare, very tender; the ketchup for the fries was slightly spicy and savory, quite different from usual ketchup 👍🏻

A very pleasant lunch, perfect for business meetings.

💰Average cost per person: 153 HKD (including service charge)
📍Address: Tai Kwun (turn left at Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre)
