Millennium New World Hong Kong Hotel, a dreamy stay!

SEMS 2 is officially coming to an end, and it’s been a year since I arrived in Hong Kong. My feelings about this city are complicated. There’s the initial joy and anticipation, loving its diversity and inclusiveness, the vintage and artistic vibe like an old movie; but at the same time, the crowding, noise, anxiety, humidity, heat, and high costs make it daunting and make me want to escape.
After a year of exploring Hong Kong, I’ve found some “anywhere doors” for myself that can temporarily shut off the city’s pressure and fast pace.
1. Hotel Staycation
Hotels in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and the Greater Bay Area are abundant, with many cost-effective business hotels. Soft big beds, room service, screen casting TV, buffet breakfast, delivery robots… In a private space, with the sunset outside the bay window, warm orange lighting, and linen carpets, occasionally relaxing and escaping really helps release emotions and stress! Millennium New World Hong Kong Hotel is my top choice, just a 10-minute walk to Tsim Sha Tsui, with a harbor view right outside the window, maximizing the feeling of comfort~
2. Seawalk and Everything Related to the Sea
The blue sea, the sea breeze on your face, the sound of tides, neon reflections, and the twinkling fishing lights, the Star Ferry rocking the shadow of the Ferris wheel… I love the seaside at sunset in Hong Kong the most. When feeling restless and anxious, heading to the seaside might help you find your original intention here.
3. Hong Kong Disneyland Fireworks / Roller Coaster
A Hong Kong Disneyland annual pass is definitely the best expense when coming to Hong Kong! In this fairy tale world, there’s no adult social dealings, work, or performance pressure. Several times after exams on workdays, I just left at 4 or 5 pm to go to Disneyland, enjoyed a few favorite rides with only 5-10 minute lines, had a drink and some food, and finally watched the fireworks at 8:30 pm. The stress seemed to vanish instantly with the fireworks.
What other ways do you all have to relieve stress in Hong Kong? Poor students still have one more year to graduate 😭
