How can General Manager Lau celebrate his birthday with just one birthday meal! On this day, we gathered a big group of friends to enjoy Chinese cuisine and took the opportunity to celebrate with him again.
We chose Imperial Court at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Mong Kok to savor the Summer Banquet, perfect for this hot weather.
Starting off with the nourishing trio! It includes Osmanthus Mantis Shrimp Dumplings, Foie Gras Bean Curd Rolls, and Chilled Wasabi Eggplant. The charming colors immediately whetted my appetite.
Osmanthus Mantis Shrimp Dumplings! The three-colored translucent wrappers look outstanding and are chewy and refreshing. Inside is fresh and sweet mantis shrimp and shrimp meat, accompanied by a subtle osmanthus fragrance—delicious!
Chilled Wasabi Eggplant! The eggplant is soft and cool to the bite, paired with a slightly spicy wasabi sauce that is very appetizing.
Foie Gras Bean Curd Rolls! The bean curd skin wraps sinful black pork bits and foie gras sauce, making it super crispy and flavorful.
Mexican Abalone Truffle Scrambled Eggs! The abalone stewed in abalone sauce tastes fragrant and sweet, combined with the aromatic black truffle scrambled eggs to create this delicate dish.
Matsutake White Jade Rice Stewed Duck Leg Soup! The clear broth is full of duck aroma, and the mushroom fragrance of the matsutake turns the white jade rice into the highlight of this soup.
Plum Pepper Scallion Lobster Balls! Using fresh, sweet, and bouncy local milk lobster paired with homemade plum pepper sauce, this dish offers not only freshness but also a tangy, slightly spicy flavor. The pumpkin juice spinach base makes the dish even more perfect.
Vine Stem Eggplant Asparagus Peach Gum Braised Grouper Balls! Pan-fried grouper balls float in fish broth, with a firm texture and full of freshness. Combined with smooth peach gum and crunchy asparagus strips, it offers a layered taste experience.
Salted Salmon Crab Meat Five-Grain Rice! Stir-fried five-grain rice with fresh salmon and crab meat, besides the ocean freshness, the distinct grain texture is really delicious.
We also ordered two dishes from the "Midsummer Feast"! Malaysian Curry Baked Local Milk Lobster with French Bread $438, made with coconut milk-flavored curry for the milk lobster. The aroma when served is incredibly enticing.
Placing the chewy, fresh lobster on crispy toast to enjoy together, the Southeast Asian flavor fully penetrates inside—so good! I really want to order a bowl of white rice to soak up the curry sauce.
Lime Lemongrass Pepper Roasted Free-Range Chicken $288/half! The combination of lime, lemongrass, and pepper seasoning definitely won’t disappoint. Most importantly, paired with fresh free-range chicken, it brings out a rich but not greasy savory flavor to the fullest.
For dessert, we had this adorable Jade Rabbit Custard Glutinous Rice Ball! The chewy glutinous rice ball is filled with sweet and smooth custard. Both the appearance and taste are very pleasing—cruelty aside, I had to eat the little rabbit.
Tokachi Red Bean 3.6 Milk Pudding! The Tokachi red beans are full of bean fragrance and very sweet. The 3.6 milk pudding is silky smooth like snow. After eating, my skin instantly felt much softer.
Finally, we celebrated with the birthday boy using Royal Delights’ Orange Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch Mousse Cake $420/pound. Remember, good health is the key to enjoying many more meals, haha.
The Summer Banquet is originally priced at $738 per person (minimum two people). There is currently a 10% discount, and Go Royal members can enjoy a special 20% off. The set menu is available from now until October 12.
