As soon as I heard that the famous Ping Chau dai pai dong has set up shop in Causeway Bay, I couldn’t resist rushing over to try it out. I heard the owner insists on taking the earliest and latest ferries to and from Ping Chau every morning and evening!
Once you step inside, you can already feel the strong dai pai dong vibes—neon signs, a clean and tidy environment, plus air conditioning. No need to fight for space on the street with mosquitoes, already a big win!
Ordered a bunch of dishes, with the top recommendation being the Deep-fried Tofu with Shrimp Roe, which was a real surprise! The outer layer was fried to a golden crisp, biting into the tofu was as tender as eating clouds, and the shrimp roe burst with fresh flavor—truly a perfect match for rice!
The Crispy Sesame Chicken was also very sincere, the chicken skin was covered with so many sesame seeds you could plant them! The skin was crispy, crunching like potato chips, and the chicken meat was juicy. Dipped in the special sesame sauce, the aroma was so tempting that even the girl at the next table glanced over!
The Spicy Clam King had just the right amount of kick, though the clams were a bit small. After finishing, I felt like I hadn’t quite satisfied my craving yet. The specialty salted horse mackerel was a highlight—the fish meat was firm, salty and savory without being overpowering. Paired with white rice ($15), just two bites and the whole bowl was gone!
