A time machine on the road: the special scenery of Hong Kong's Ding Ding Tram.

There's one mode of transportation you absolutely must experience on your trip to Hong Kong: the double-decker tram, affectionately called "ding ding" by locals. It's a symbol of Hong Kong.

Trams run from Shau Kei Wan on the east side of Hong Kong Island to Kennedy Town on the west, and even to Happy Valley, making them a convenient way to travel between major tourist destinations.

From the second floor, you can gaze out the window, taking in the sights of narrow streets lined with high-rise buildings, markets, and traditional shops, offering a close-up view of everyday Hong Kong life. While the tram isn't fast, it's a great way to slowly absorb the atmosphere of Hong Kong.

Fares are very affordable, around HKD 3 per ride, and can be paid with either the Octopus Card or cash. The unique system of boarding from the back door and exiting from the front door was also a highlight.

Trams, a vital part of Hong Kong for both tourists and locals, are more than just a means of transportation; they are cultural symbols that embody Hong Kong's history and lifestyle. If you're traveling to Hong Kong, I highly recommend taking a ride.
