Horqin Wetland Attracts 30,000 Migratory Birds

Recently, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration announced 22 newly designated national important wetlands. The Horqin National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia was successfully selected due to its unique ecological pattern, rich bird resources, and significant ecological restoration achievements. The reserve is located in the eastern part of Keyouzhongqi, Hinggan League, covering a total area of 119,587 hectares. It has a well-developed water system, with the Huolin River providing the core water source, creating a unique landscape where grasslands and wetlands intertwine. Every autumn, this area welcomes a large number of migratory birds. Currently, more than 30,000 migratory birds have visited, including over 20 first-class nationally protected white cranes, more than 200 white-naped cranes, and over 500 second-class nationally protected hooded cranes. Flocks of migratory birds drink and forage within the wetlands, with formations of geese circling and cranes calling, adding vitality to the autumn wetlands. Visitors can experience up close the lively and vibrant gathering of thousands of birds. As a key stopover and breeding ground on the East Asia–Australasian Flyway, the ecological status of the Horqin Reserve is crucial. Come here to witness the solid results of ecological protection efforts and feel the harmonious beauty of nature!
