Railway Journey: Exploring the Beauty of Eastern Taiwan (Part 1)

Where is Taiwan's most beautiful scenery?
I cast my vote for the East!

My last train trip to Hualien was a year ago, and just like this one, it wasn’t for leisure but a three-day, two-night camp focused on learning. Since I couldn’t freely explore and have fun, I decided to capture as much of the eastern scenery as possible through the train windows!

On the day of departure from Taipei, it was drizzling and gloomy in the Keelung area. However, as we reached Yilan, the clouds cleared, revealing breathtaking views all the way to Hualien! This time, I used an electronic ticket to board the Tze-Chiang Limited Express, traveling via the North-Link and mountain routes. Most of the views were of farmland and mountain landscapes, so if you want to catch glimpses of the ocean, you’ll need to act quickly!

For those who wish to gaze at the vast Pacific Ocean and admire the stunning interplay of mountains and sea, don’t hesitate—an Eastern Taiwan trip will be an excellent choice!
