🚗 Self-driving: From downtown Huangshan, drive along the G3 Beijing-Taipei Expressway for about 1 hour to reach Huangshan Scenic Area. Self-driving allows for more flexible itinerary planning, but be sure to drive safely on mountain roads.
🚌 Bus: There are tourist buses from downtown Huangshan to Huangshan Scenic Area. Tickets cost about CNY 30 and the journey takes about 1.5 hours. There are many buses, making them a good option for those who don't want to drive.
🚕 Taxi: A taxi from downtown Huangshan to Huangshan Scenic Area costs about CNY 200, making it a good option for those who are short on time or don't want to take public transportation.
Huangshan 2-Day Itinerary
Perfect for in-depth exploration. We recommend going up the front mountain and down the back mountain for a more relaxing trip and to see more beautiful scenery.
Day 1: Front Mountain (Ciguang Pavilion) → Yuping Tower → Bright Summit → Xihai Grand Canyon → Paiyun Pavilion
07:00 Depart from Tangkou Town and take a scenic area bus to Ciguang Pavilion (front mountain entrance).
08:00 Take the Yuping Cable Car to Yuping Tower (cable car costs CNY 90 one way).
08:30 Visit classic front mountain attractions such as the Guest-Greeting Pine, Hundred Steps Cloud Ladder, and One-Line Sky.
11:00 Head to Bright Summit for a panoramic view of Huangshan.
12:00 Lunch (mountain top restaurant or bring your own food).
13:00 Head to Xihai Grand Canyon and walk from Paiyun Pavilion to the bottom of the canyon (about 2 hours).
15:00 Take the Xihai Grand Canyon Cable Car back to the Tianhai area.
16:00 Check in to a mountain top hotel (we recommend Bright Summit or the Tianhai area for easy access to the sunrise the next day).
Day 2: Bright Summit Sunrise → Back Mountain (Beihai Scenic Area) → White Goose Ridge → Yungu Temple
05:30 Get up early and head to Bright Summit to watch the sunrise.
07:00 After breakfast, visit Beihai Scenic Area and enjoy back mountain attractions such as the Monkey Watching the Sea and Shixin Peak.
10:00 Head to White Goose Ridge and walk or take the Yungu Cable Car down the mountain to Yungu Temple.
12:00 Take a scenic area bus back to Tangkou Town to end your trip.

A 2-day trip allows for in-depth exploration of the highlights of Huangshan. We recommend staying on the mountain for easy access to the sunrise.
Xihai Grand Canyon is a highlight of Huangshan. We recommend making time to visit.
