Huwei, Yunlin | Shuntian Temple: Loyalty and Righteousness in Incense

In the Huwei district of Yunlin, there's a historic and popular temple called Shuntian Temple. Its principal deity is Guandijun, also known as "Lord of Grace," revered for his loyalty, righteousness, and protection of the law and the people.

Entering the temple, red pillars shimmer with golden light, and the walls are covered with paintings depicting the life story of the Martial Saint, creating an imposing yet warm atmosphere. Incense curls through the hall, and worshippers clasp their hands in reverent prayer, beseeching Guandijun's blessing for a successful career, a healthy family, and a smooth journey.

I burned incense and kowtowed before the temple, silently reciting, "May I walk with integrity and uphold loyalty and righteousness; may the Emperor protect me from all the trials and tribulations of life." As I bowed, the worries of the past few days seemed to dissipate with the smoke.
