Nanxun Ancient Town, as one of the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, attracts countless tourists with its unique historical charm and undeveloped tranquility. There are not the crowds like in Wuzhen and Zhouzhuang here, but it retains more of the flavor of life, allowing people to enjoy a slow life in comfort.
2. Transportation Guide
High-speed rail:
Arrive at Huzhou Station, and after exiting the station, you can take a taxi or bus No. 101 directly to Nanxun.
Self-driving:
It takes about 1.5 hours from Hangzhou and less than 2 hours from Shanghai.
coach:
There are direct buses to Nanxun from Shanghai Bus Terminal, Hongqiao West Long-distance Bus Terminal, South Long-distance Bus Terminal, Hutai Road Bus Terminal and Pudong East Long-distance Bus Terminal. The ticket price is about HKD50 and the journey takes 1.5-2.5 hours.
There are dozens of buses from Hangzhou North Bus Station to Nanxun Bus Station every day. The ticket price is HKD42 or HKD45 and the journey takes about 2 hours.
There are also direct buses to Nanxun from Suzhou, Jiaxing and other places.

Day 1:
Yiyuan: Stroll through the garden and feel the classical charm.
Street food: Taste Nanxun’s special snacks, such as Qian’s mutton noodles, whitebait fried eggs, etc.
Silk Pier: Take the water bus (operating hours: 09:30 and 16:00, HKD3/station, 30 minutes/trip) to tour the ancient town.
Nanxun Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum: Learn about Nanxun’s intangible cultural heritage.
Cross Harbor Pier: Enjoy the night view of the ancient town.
Day 2:
Zhang Jingjiang's Former Residence: Visit the Qing Dynasty's three-in-five-out architectural style, which houses many cultural relics.
Baijianlou: A relic of the Jiangnan riverside residential complex from the Ming and Qing dynasties, perfect for photographing sunsets.
Night view: Enjoy dinner at Baijianlou and feel the breath of life.

IV. Introduction to major attractions
Xiaolianzhuang: The private garden of Liu Yong, the leader of the "Four Elephants" of Nanxun in the late Qing Dynasty, is located on the bank of the Partridge Creek. It features white walls and black tiles, a lotus pond and a curved bridge, as well as peculiar peaks and rocks. It makes people appreciate the artistic conception of "although it is made by man, it seems to be created by nature".
Baijianlou: Built by Ming Dynasty Minister of Rites Dong Fen for his female relatives and servants, it has a history of more than 400 years and is one of the most complete riverside residential complexes from the Ming and Qing dynasties in the Jiangnan region.
Zhang Shiming's Former Residence: Built by Zhang Shiming, grandson of Zhang Songxian, one of the "Four Elephants" of Nanxun, it is a national key cultural relic protection unit. The entire mansion is composed of typical traditional Jiangnan architecture and European-style buildings from the French Renaissance period, presenting the characteristics of a fusion of Chinese and Western styles everywhere.
Jiayetang Library: One of the four major libraries in Jiangnan, it was built by Liu Chenggan, the grandson of Liu Yong and a famous bibliophile in the late Qing Dynasty. The overall design is a garden-style layout that combines Chinese and Western styles. At its peak, it had a collection of 60,000 volumes, totaling about 160,000 books.
Liu's Tihao: commonly known as the "Red House", was built by Liu Tiqing, the third son of Liu Yong, one of the "Four Elephants" of Nanxun. The entire building is based on traditional Confucian cultural ideas and the mansion is tall, spacious and magnificent.
