Exploring the North West of China

Whether you call it “Yili“, “Ili“, “Yining” or even the historical name “Ghulja“, one thing is for sure: it’s definitely worth traveling to this unique part of Xinjiang, China.

Yili is quite a small city and gives you a glimpse into the diverse culture available in xinjiang. The food also reflects this. From mutton stews, to fruit laced rices, this is a foodie paradise. One reason to come to Yili is to see the new flower blossom. Happening every year, around April, thousands of visitors flock to this city to see the flower blossoms. As well as that, Yili is a perfect base to explore other parts of western xinjiang such as the sayram lake, the yili grasslands.
