This is a farmhouse from the Alsace region in northeastern France, bordering Germany. The area is known for cultivating crops like wheat and corn, raising cattle, and growing grapes.
The main house, barn, and sheds are arranged around a spacious courtyard. The roofs are steeply pitched to prevent snow accumulation. The white plaster walls feature exposed beams and braces, showcasing a unique Central European timber-frame construction style called "Colombage." The main house, built in 1582, is the oldest restored building in Little World. It is a three-story structure with a stone-built first floor. The upper floors have white plaster walls with exposed timber framing in the Colombage style. The timber framing uses hard and durable woods such as oak, chestnut, and fir.
