Naqshe Jahan Square, Isfahan, Iran, is the second largest square in the world, with an area of 89,600 square meters, second only to Beijing's Tiananmen Square. It was the place where King Abbas of the Safavid Dynasty reviewed his troops and watched polo. Originally known as King's Square, it was renamed after the Islamic Revolution. In 1979 UNESCO listed Imam Square as a World Heritage Site.
