Summer vacation on Ishigaki Island and Taketomi Island ♥
Enjoy a trip without renting a car.
Itinerary
Day 1
There are direct flights from Tokyo to Ishigaki Island. At 8:30 AM, depart Haneda Airport on an ANA flight to Ishigaki Island.
From the window seat, you can enjoy beautiful ocean views.
Once you arrive, there's a direct bus from the airport to the port leading to the outlying islands. It takes about 45 minutes and costs 550 yen.
Head to Taketomi Island via the outlying island terminal.
Stay at Yadoya Takenoko. They offer free transportation to the port if you request in advance, so it's convenient.
The inn is near the Nishi Pier, within walking distance of the ocean.
Bicycle rentals are also recommended.
The building is very Okinawan and relaxing.
Shaved ice is the best in the heat! The brown sugar zenzai shaved ice was delicious ♥ Parlor Painu Island is highly recommended!
Kondoi Beach is also within walking distance, so you can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The sunset and starry sky are both great views from Nishi Pier, so it's a great way to relax and enjoy nature.
Day 2
I took a morning walk on the beach. It was empty, so we had the beach all to ourselves.
I checked out and returned to Ishigaki Island in the morning.
I had lunch at an Okinawa soba restaurant. The unique noodles were delicious.
Then, I toured Ishigaki Island by electric scooter.
I went to Kabira Bay, which took about 90 minutes one way from Euglena Mall. But it was better than driving, being able to feel the nature and ride along the sea! I could go up to 20 kilometers on an electric scooter. Kabira Bay was breathtakingly beautiful.
Luggage was conveniently stored at Shimakaze Ride, the shop where I rented the scooter.
On Ishigaki Island, I stayed at the ANA InterContinental. With Maesato Beach right in front of me and a pool, it was a model tropical resort hotel.
Day 3
I spent the time relaxing at Maesato Beach right in front of the hotel, relaxing by the pool, until check-out. I also stopped by San-A, a large supermarket within walking distance, where I could buy souvenirs unique to Ishigaki Island.
I had an afternoon flight from Ishigaki Island to Tokyo. There was a convenient bus to the airport from the hotel.
Transportation on Ishigaki Island
Rental cars might be convenient, but with my plan, I didn't need one. Buses run from the airport to the hotel, port, etc., so getting around is easy.
It only costs 550 yen from the airport to the city.
Rental bicycles are good, and electric scooters are also fun. A four-hour rental was 2,000 yen.
Photo Spots
Kabira Bay. It's so beautiful it's almost shocking.
Notes
The trip is weather-dependent. A typhoon may force you to change your itinerary.
Precautions for the heat. Be careful of heatstroke.
