Over a course of 2 trips to turkey and several layovers in Istanbul. I have had the chance to explore stay options and areas in Istanbul. Here is my list of top areas to consider based on your needs and budgets :-

1 - Taksim

For those who love the idea of staying in a modern and commercial part of Istanbul. Taksim is a great pick. Lots of shopping, dining and nightlife options.

2 - Beyoglu

This is another popular neighbourhood to stay in Istanbul. It is known for its cultural and historical landmarks, as well as its trendy cafes and nightlife.

3 - Sultanahemet

This place houses some of the most famous sights in Istanbul. It is not only the historic centre but also good food, dining and stay options.

4 - Galata

This is a somewhat busy area with hilly streets. It's got its own vibe being on the old town. Located across from the river, you are walkable distances to the pier.
