Northern Shaanxi Borderland Secret | China's Largest Desert Freshwater Lake

Located in Yuyang District, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, on the southeastern edge of the Mu Us Desert, about 80 kilometers from Yulin city center. It is a natural wonder at the transition zone between the Loess Plateau and the desert.
📜 Name Origin:
"Hongjian Nao" is a transliteration from Mongolian: "Hong" refers to the color of the lake water, and "Jian Nao" means "beautiful lake." Local herders also call it "Zhaojun Tear Lake," which is said to be related to the legend of Wang Zhaojun going beyond the frontier.
