[Ito, Japan] Mount Omuro: The spectacular crater, the fun of walking around the mountains

#2024Travel Review

I was deeply impressed by Mount Omuro in Ito, Japan. This volcano, formed by an eruption about 4,000 years ago, is famous for its bowl-shaped crater with a diameter of 250 to 300 meters. It is the largest cinder cone in the eastern Izu volcanic group.

The appearance of Mount Omuro is like an upside-down bowl. Standing at the foot of the mountain, looking up at the volcano, you can feel its majesty. As the cable car slowly climbs up, the surrounding scenery becomes more and more magnificent. When you reach the top, you will see a stunning panoramic picture in front of you.

There is a specific trail on the top of the mountain. The journey takes about half an hour, but the scenery along the way makes people linger for a long time without realizing it. If the weather is clear enough, you can also see Mount Fuji🗻 and Izu Oshima in the distance.

🌋Attraction: Mount Omuro
📍Address: 672-2 Chi, Ito City
🚍Transportation: Take the bus from Ito Station towards Cactus Animal Park (about 40 minutes’ drive)
