On January 25th, I drove to Nikko Toshogu Shrine and encountered a beautiful snowy day. The entrance fee for Toshogu Shrine is 1,300 yen. If you're driving in snowy conditions, it's advisable to equip your car with snow chains, as the parking lot at Toshogu Shrine is on a slope and can be difficult to access without them.
Also, wear slip-resistant shoes since there are many steps to climb, some without handrails. Shinkyo Bridge is located just below Toshogu Shrine, making it convenient to visit both attractions together. The bridge looks particularly charming in the snow. For lunch, I ate at a restaurant near Nikko Station called 'Kou no Ya,' where I had yaki-men. You can choose the spiciness level for the dandan noodles and the portion size, with prices around 1,000 yen. There's also a 'Gusto' restaurant across the street, which is a good option if you're unsure about what to eat.
