A Mysterious Gem: Geumak Oreum with a Pond

📍 Geumak-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju City, Jeju Island

Geumak Oreum, a landmark on the western side of Jeju Island, is a must-visit destination. Its crater filled with water makes it a 'hot spot' among Jeju's oreums (volcanic hills).

🚗 Parking is limited, so a pro tip is to park along the roadside near the entrance if you find a spot! For those traveling on foot, taxis are readily available, making it easily accessible.

Upon arrival at the entrance, you'll first encounter a small pond called 'Saeng-i Mot.' This pond, historically used as a water source, also served as a refuge during the Jeju 4.3 Incident, adding historical significance to its charm.

⛰️ The initial trail is shaded by trees, offering a cool and pleasant walk. However, it soon transitions to a sunny ridge. In summer, a portable fan and water are essential! The well-maintained path makes it easy for children to climb as well.

We reached the ridge at the summit in about 15 minutes at a leisurely pace! Along the way, the breezy scenery and expansive views of the western landscape made the climb feel effortless.
