In Jeju Island, "sea urchin harvest aunties" refer to the legendary "Haenyeo" — the female divers of Jeju who free-dive without oxygen tanks to harvest seafood such as abalone, octopus, sea cucumbers, and sea urchins (called "seongge" in Korean). Mostly elderly women, many in their 60s to 80s. Trained from a young age to dive without equipment. Dive as deep as 10–20 meters, holding their breath for up to 2 minutes
