Jeondong Cathedral in a Picturesque Hanok Village

How about Jeondong Cathedral nestled in a beautiful Hanok village that showcases the charm of all four seasons?

Did you know that when viewed from above, Jeondong Cathedral is shaped like the Virgin Mary? While many cathedrals, including Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul, were dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Jeondong Cathedral is said to be the only cathedral in the world entirely constructed in her likeness.

Many visitors to Jeonju have likely already stopped by Jeondong Cathedral at least once. But isn't it a rule of thumb to revisit beautiful places?

Designated as Cultural Heritage Material No. 178 of Jeollabuk-do Special Self-Governing Province, the cathedral holds significant historical value. Its architectural beauty, reflecting the style of its era, attracts numerous visitors. In summer, the crape myrtles add to its charm, while in autumn, the golden ginkgo trees in the courtyard create a different kind of beauty, making it stunning in every season.

Although the crape myrtle flowers of summer are starting to fall, by late October to early November, the ginkgo trees in the courtyard will begin to don their golden hues.

Autumn is a perfect season for a stroll. If you're visiting Jeonju, why not include Jeondong Cathedral in your itinerary?
