Luxihui Historical District is located in the northeast of Jiaxing's old town. It is bordered by Changshuitang to the east, Xiucheng River (also known as Xiushui) to the south, and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal to the west. Zhaqianjie River runs through the middle of the district, which covers a total area of 23 hectares. During the Qing Dynasty, Luxihui, Gangbenghui, and Fengxianghui were all commercial areas outside the north gate. Luxihui was named after its main business of stacking and selling reed mats. The district is made up of Luxihui, Xiunong, Xiangyuanbang, and other streets and alleys. The traditional riverside residential buildings and fishbone-shaped streets and alleys along the vertical river channels have been preserved, showcasing the cultural connotations of the water towns of Jiangnan. A river runs through the district, and three rivers surround the streets. All the riverside buildings have been rebuilt in the style of traditional Jiangnan residences, forming a unique Jiangnan water town style. The shops along the west side of Xiucheng River (Xiushui) will soon become an extraordinary flower and bird market, while the shops along the east side of Xiucheng River will be transformed into a commercial street with dining, leisure, and entertainment facilities. Luxihui will become a large commercial and residential area with tourism and sightseeing functions.
