Luxihui | A Forgotten Old Dream of Jiangnan by the Yue River!

Just 500 meters from the Yue River Historic District lies a quiet neighborhood called "Luxihui." To be honest, until yesterday, I had never heard of it.

Compared to the bustling Yue River, Luxihui feels especially peaceful, with spacious and open layouts forming its own unique pattern. Here, you’ll also find Jiangnan-style residences with white walls and black tiles, but there are three historically rich highlights:

First, the name "Luxihui" itself — located by the canal and surrounded by three rivers, it was named after the riverside shops that once specialized in making reed mats, a vivid mark of the Grand Canal’s commercial civilization; second, Jiaxing’s oldest stone arch bridge — Xiucheng Bridge, with weathered stone patterns quietly telling the story of time; third, the distinctive water diversion pier, said to date back to the Sui Emperor Yang’s canal excavation, used to regulate and slow the water flow passing through the city.

Today, this area has transformed into a micro urban vacation destination combining themed guesthouses, specialty dining, and cultural creative businesses. The riverside tea houses are doing well, with moderate crowds, open spaces, and a relaxed atmosphere. If you prefer tranquility and want to experience the slow pace by the canal while sitting leisurely, Luxihui is a place worth making a special detour to visit.

— It neither competes nor clamors, just waiting for you to discover it.
