After visiting Jiaxing more than ten times, I realized that Jiaxing is not just about Nanhu, there are many other places worth exploring.
Recommended itinerary‼️
Huijing Garden ➡️ Huxin Island ➡️ Nanhu Tiandi ➡️ Wuxiang Shrine (Haogu Tower) ➡️ Zicheng Ruins Park ➡️ Catholic Church ➡️ Yuehe Historic District
🧭 Arrive at the South Gate of Nanhu Scenic Area
🎈Start from Huijing Garden. Although it’s 38 degrees in summer, the garden is shaded with green trees 🌳, so walking around is comfortable without getting sunburned. It’s just a few minutes to the boat dock ⛵️.
You can take a boat to Huxin Island, ticket price 20 RMB/person.
🎈Huxin Island
Be sure to visit the Yanyu Tower on Huxin Island. It is said that Emperor Qianlong visited Jiangnan six times and climbed Yanyu Tower eight times, composing poems to praise it each time. The island also has other ancient buildings and the Red Boat.
🎈Nanhu Tiandi
You can get off the boat here when leaving Huxin Island. This area not only preserves historical and cultural buildings but also features a modern commercial complex.
🎈Haogu Tower
A must-visit spot in Nanhu. Climb to the seventh floor to overlook the entire Nanhu and the ancient buildings below. The view is wide and open, with a railway 🚞 track on one side where trains pass by from time to time.
🎈Zicheng Ruins Park
The park contains ruins over 1,790 years old and preserves many historical relics. Walking along the central axis, you can feel the historical changes of Jiaxing.
🎈Catholic Church
A typical combination of Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles, a landmark building in Jiaxing, perfect for taking photos 📷.
🎈Yuehe Historic District
A typical water town in Jiangnan, the entire district is built along the water. The Ming and Qing dynasty buildings have white walls and black tiles, with bluestone paths, small bridges, and flowing water, full of rich Jiangnan charm.
For a day trip around, you don’t need to bring much—just a phone and a bag, and you’re ready to go!
