Checked in at Mingshui Ancient City! Stayed at the Heng8 Chain Hotel's Ctrip Audio-Visual Room next to the ancient city—affordable and super cozy.
Mingshui Ancient City is built around springs, with crystal-clear water crisscrossing the town, shimmering under the light. Recently, weekend nights even feature fireworks shows—absolutely stunning and perfect for photos.
1. The scenic area has two parts: the Ancient City Zone and Baimai Spring Zone, ideal for a two-day visit.
2. Grab a guide at the visitor center before entering.
3. For the paddleboat ride, opt for the half trip to Lotus Banquet—the full loop returns to the visitor center, forcing you to backtrack.
Head to Fuqian Street for food and drinks—the morning wine market is also here.
Must-visit spots:
Hongsheng Cloth Workshop: Exudes classic Jiangnan charm, great for photos.
Mingshui Avenue: Riverside promenade bursting with Jiangnan vibes and breathtaking views.
Meng Family Courtyard: Features performances, pavilions, and serene springs.
Liuxian Bridge: Underrated but stunningly scenic, often overlooked by crowds.
Nighttime strolls in the ancient city are magical. Arrive by 7:30 PM to snag a spot—shows are fantastic but get packed fast.
Costume rentals and photo services are available on the 2nd floor near the visitor center and by Liuxian Bridge.
Don’t miss the city wall—access it via stone steps after entering the ancient city gate.
